Avoiding Xiaomi in 2019 is like avoiding potholes on Mumbai roads during monsoons… not happening.
Both show up with something new every year and even if you don’t ride the brand-wagon, you’ll be surrounded by people who are discussing it. However, unlike potholes, Xiaomi is a sight for sore eyes.

Design

Xiaomi’s stretching its legs in every direction and keeping prices as low as that sinking pothole. ₹4,999 for a soundbar is frankly ridiculous!
It just about runs the full length of a 43in telly and it’s also quite tall. Meaning, it obstructs the lower bezel and a little bit of the frame when placed below the Xiaomi 55in 4K telly on a stand.

Functions

Pretty basic with the inclusion of Bluetooth which interestingly changes the way you use a soundbar.

Audio

its Bluetooth 4.2 connection, it’s easier to stream Sunday tunes from your phone while cooking lunch or sipping on pina coladas. So, you can take a break from its taskmaster volume controlling issues and use it as a Bluetooth speaker which is probably a better sell for this soundbar.

Verdict

For the price, there’s nothing that beats this soundbar. The build quality is good enough although the lack of a remote or an app to control the audio is very disappointing.

It’s a conflicting question of how well you want your audio to represent a home entertainment system for the price. It delivers decent mids and highs but lacks depth and detail with ear-poking treble at times. Bass is present but doesn’t pack enough punch to commemorate the soundbar into the home entertainment sphere. Albeit, this will definitely produce better audio than most budget tellies out there and if you’re looking to get more volume for less then, like all Xiaomi products, this is your best budget bet.

MV Agusta is gearing up now to add another feather to its cap with the launch of the Turismo Veloce sport-tourer, which has entered India, however, slated to reach showrooms for sale in the next 90 days. In India, the Italian company functions along with Kinetic Group’s exclusive bikes division – Motoroyale.

The MV Augusta Turismo Veloce will be the latest addition to the current line-up in India consisting of bikes like the MV Augusta F3 800 Supersport and the MV Augusta Brutale 800 naked bike. Only these three bikes will be on offer now since the Augusta F4 and MV Augusta Brutale 1000 were discontinued.

The Italian bike maker proudly claims it to be an “everyday F3” as the new Augusta Veloce inclines and responds more to the sport characteristic than the touring nature.

The new Turismo Veloce tourer houses a 798cc, 3-cylinder engine and the only touring motorcycle with a counter-rotating crankshaft. It churns 110 horsepower at 10,150 rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 7,100rpm and is paired to a six-speed transmission with a quick-shifter fitted as a standard feature.

Consider us confused! A few weeks ago Hispano Suiza put out a press release about a new supercar. It was named the Carmen. Now we hear about the Hispano-Suiza Maguari HS1 GTC, another hypercar carrying the same name!

The confusion is tied to the fact that the two are actually completely different companies, both claiming the right to use the Hispano Suiza brand for its cars. The Carmen is produced by Hispano Suiza Cars, and the Maguari by Hispano Suiza Automobile Manufaktur AG. The Maguari comes from the same company who displayed the Hispano Suiza Gran Turismo Coupé Concept Car at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010.

Maguari HS1 GTC by Hispano Suiza

The Hispano Suiza Maguari HS1 GTC appears to be in its very early stages. Named after a South American stork, the brand’s traditional emblem, it uses the underpinnings of a Lamborghini Huracan. Power from the twin turbocharged V10, all 1,085 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque, is routed to the rear-wheels. 0 to 100 km/h is said to take just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 380 km/h.

Hispano Suiza are marketing the Maguari HS1 GTC at a price point of €2.2 million.

Apple has long been trying to be the architect of its own destiny by placing as much of its parts and their production in its own hands. The lesser it depends on sources outside of its control, the less it has to negotiate and compromise. It has already started doing that for iPhones and iPads and is expected to do the same for Macs, moving them Intel’s processors to its own custom ARM CPUs. But if you thought that’s still a long time coming, even Intel’s own developers and officials think it might start as early as next year.

When the ones that will be most affected by the change start talking about the inevitable, you know something might be up. Granted, Intel won’t exactly go bankrupt when Apple switches to the competing ARM architecture but losing a high-profile customer will hurt nonetheless. Especially when it will happen so close, as Axios’ report claims.
Bloomberg gives a more detailed timeline for Apple’s transition in the coming users. Moving to ARM-based Macs is actually just one step towards a bigger scheme. It isn’t just about controlling its own ecosystem, it’s also about bridging the iOS and macOS worlds. Or specifically, writing apps that will run on both.

Apple already got the ball rolling last year with what was called Project Marzipan and sources say that it will be rolling out a software development kit or SDK to help developers port their iPad apps to the Mac. By next year, that SDK will also cover iPhone apps as the first ARM-based Macs start to appear. And by 2021, developers will be able to just write and submit one “universal” app for iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
That this major change is coming is probably now more of a question of “when” than “if”. But perhaps more importantly, it’s also a question of how painless the transition will be. There might already be some naysayers, especially from the Mac camp, who fear this unified future. For developers, however, it means a period of uncertainty and a lot of work to align their apps with Apple’s grand vision.

Google this week announced that its security alarm system device Nest will support voice assistant feature. This might have been a regular feature update for one of its device, except that Nest owners didn’t even know the device had a microphone built into it to support this upcoming feature.
After which, Google on Wednesday said it forgot to mention that it included a microphone in its Nest Secure home alarm system. This is the latest goof up from the search giant which is known to access to store personal data of millions of users across the globe.
Seemingly, none of the Nest products are selling in India, but if you have imported the Nest Secure, it’s time you got abreast with this hidden feature on the device.
Google started selling the Nest Secure from last 2017 onwards, and strangely decided to skip mentioning the addition of microphone in its specs sheet. Business Insider first reported the microphone had been missing from the product's description.
Google said in a statement that the omission was a mistake. "The on-device microphone was never intended to be a secret and should have been listed in the tech specs," it said.

Trying to pacify its users, Google pointed out, “the microphone hasn't been active since launch, and people have to specifically enable it going forward.”
This isn’t the only major privacy-centric issue that has grappled Google under controversy recently. The search giant, as highlighted in various reports, has been tracking its user’s location, even when the feature is turned off.
Add to that, you have the major bug detected on Google+, which has forced Google to prepone its plans to shut down the product for the end user.

HTC’s Vive Focus VR headset is getting an upgrade, and it could make it easier than ever for content parity across stand-alone VR systems and those tied to a PC.

The Vive Focus Plus will use the “six degrees of freedom” system used in the current Vive Focus, but now with support for dual “six degrees of freedom” controllers, as well.
With this integration, HTC Vive is aiming to make it easier for PC VR developers to move content over to the stand-alone Vive Focus Plus.
“This rollout of Vive Focus Plus furthers our commitment to rapidly iterate and refine the VR market for both businesses and consumers,” HTC Vive Americas GM Daniel O’Brien said in a press release.
The controllers themselves feature analog triggers capable of reading pressure-sensitive input during experiences. It also supports Gaze control, and with full enterprise support, this should make it easier for those unfamiliar with virtual reality to properly run the programs. Additionally, the “Hazard Spotting” tools in Vive Pro have also been incorporated into Vive Focus Plus, allowing people to move freely without worrying about injuring themselves or others.
Vive will be showing the Vive Focus Plus and the Vive Pro Eye during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. The headset itself will be available to purchase beginning in the second quarter of 2019, and will be available in 25 different markets.
Vive Focus Plus will also be compatible with Viveport Infinity content, giving subscribers access to a growing library of games and experiences for a monthly fee. A single account will give you access to Vive Focus Plus support, as well as support for any of your compatible PC Vive headsets. The service will launch in April.
The Vive Focus Plus isn’t the only wireless headset the company has in the works. Announced during CES 2019 in January, the Vive Cosmos uses no external tracking technology and though it’s still designed for PC, it appears it will also feature integration with mobile devices. With space being such an issue with current virtual reality setups, however, it could help to usher the technology into smaller homes. The Cosmos’ controller has been built with tracking and performance in mind, with illuminated areas for better wrist tracking. It also features ergonomic buttons and sticks, and will be compatible with previous VR experiences.
