For the first time, an object in our solar system has been found more than 100 times farther than Earth is from the sun.

The International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center announced the discovery Monday, calling the object 2018 VG18. But the researchers who found it are calling it "Farout."

They believe the spherical object is a dwarf planet more than 310 miles in diameter, with a pinkish hue. That color has been associated with objects that are rich in ice, and given its distance from the sun, that isn't hard to believe. Its slow orbit probably takes more than 1,000 years to make one trip around the sun, the researchers said.




The distance between the Earth and the sun is an AU, or astronomical unit -- the equivalent of about 93 million miles. Farout is 120 AU from the sun. Eris, the next most distant object known, is 96 AU from the sun. For reference, Pluto is 34 AU away.

The object was found by the Carnegie Institution for Science's Scott S. Sheppard, the University of Hawaii's David Tholen and Northern Arizona University's Chad Trujillo -- and it's not their first discovery.

The team has been searching for a super-Earth-size planet on the edge of our solar system, known as Planet Nine or Planet X, since 2014. They first suggested the existence of this possible planet in 2014 after finding "Biden" at 84 AU. Along the way, they have discovered more distant solar system objects suggesting that the gravity of something massive is influencing their orbit.




"This discovery is truly an international achievement in research using telescopes located in Hawaii and Chile, operated by Japan, as well as by a consortium of research institutions and universities in the United States," Trujillo said in a statement. "With new wide-field digital cameras on some of the world's largest telescopes, we are finally exploring our Solar System's fringes, far beyond Pluto."

In October, the team announced the discovery of "the Goblin" at 80 AU; it's so named because the distant solar system object was first spotted near Halloween.

It's unlikely that these objects are influenced by the gravity of gas giants Neptune and Uranus because they never get close enough to them -- which indicates that something else is determining their orbits.

Farout's orbit is yet to be determined.

Lead author of the research published in Scientific Reports, Dr Giovanni Strona of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre based in Ispra in northern Italy, said: "Even the most resilient species will inevitably fall victim to the synergies among extinction drivers as extreme stresses drive ecosystems to collapse.”

Some of the extreme changes to the environment that the scientists simulated was runaway global warming, scenarios of 'nuclear winter' following the detonation of multiple atomic bombs, and a large asteroid impact.

Co-author Professor Corey Bradshaw of Flinders University in South Australia said: "What we were trying to test is whether the variable tolerances to extreme global heating or cooling by different species are enough to explain overall extinction rates.”


"But because all species are connected in the web of life, our paper demonstrates that even the most tolerant species ultimately succumb to extinction when the less-tolerant species on which they depend disappear."

"Failing to take into account these co-extinctions therefore underestimates the rate and magnitude of the loss of entire species from events like climate change by up to 10 times.

"Not taking into account this domino effect gives an unrealistic and exceedingly optimistic perspective about the impact of future climate change.”


Dr Strona added that it would not take much in the way of climate change to induce a huge global die off.






He said: "Another really important discovery was that in the case of global warming in particular, the combination of intolerance to heat combined with co-extinctions mean that 5-6 degrees of average warming globally is enough to wipe out most life on the planet.”

Prof Bradshaw says the next step of the research will focus on how climate warming creates extinction cascades in the worst possible way.

The asteroid, dubbed Asteroid 2018 WX1, is expected to pass in the morning of Friday, December 7. NASA’s scientists at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory are looking at a 9.09am GMT (UTC) flyby. The asteroid’s passage will be preceded by a much smaller, 91.8ft-wide (28m) barrelling past the planet at around 6.51am GMT. The bigger of the two asteroids is the more formidable object and is comparable in size to Big Ben’s Elizabeth tower in Westminster, London.

NASA’s astronomers estimate the speeding asteroid measures somewhere in the range of 134.5ft to 298.5ft (41m to 91m).

According to the space agency, asteroids in the upper range of this size estimate have the potential to wreak havoc upon impact.

NASA said: “Space rocks smaller than about 25 meters – about 82 feet – will most likely burn up as they enter the Earth's atmosphere and cause little or no damage.

“If a rocky meteoroid larger than 25 meters but smaller than one kilometre – a little more than 1/2 mile – were to hit Earth, it would likely cause local damage to the impact area.

“We believe anything larger than one to two kilometres – one kilometre is a little more than one-half mile – could have worldwide effects.

“At 5.4 kilometres in diameter, the largest known potentially hazardous asteroid is Toutatis.”

Asteroids measuring around 328ft (100m) across strike the Earth once every 2,000 years or so.

Thankfully there is no risk of the asteroid slamming into the planet anytime soon.

Instead, the asteroid will make a so-called Earth Close Approach tomorrow morning.

Earth Close Approaches involve all asteroids and comets flying by the Earth within 0.05 astronomical units (au) or 4.6 million miles (7.49 million km) of the planet.

Tomorrow, Asteroid WX1 will reach a minimum distance from Earth of 0.01235 au or 1.14 million miles (1.48 million km).

This is the equivalent of 4.81 Lunar Distances (LD) – 4.81-times the distance from the Earth to the Moon.


NASA said: “As they orbit the Sun, Near-Earth Objects can occasionally approach close to Earth.


“Note that a ‘close’ passage astronomically can be very far away in human terms: millions or even tens of millions of kilometres.”

Asteroid WX1 will zip by at breakneck speeds of 20,065.32 or 8.97km per second.

Some technology experts are striving for immortality by relentlessly researching the possibility of bio-hacking – a technique which sees technology replace parts of the human form. And while scientists believe we will one day be able to live forever, they also claim it will come from a major sacrifice. Bio-hacking experts James Horton and Nicholas Priest, both from the University of Bath, write for The Conversation: “Modern science has opened an assortment of new ways to improve survival, and now members of the technology-driven ultra-rich are adopting these new approaches in an attempt to extend their own lives.

“Nature seems set to deny our human forms from having it all. So what will it be: humanity, or something else entirely?”






The duo believe that in order to live forever, we will have to completely abandon our human form, which opens up the philosophical question: what will life become?

Leading entrepreneurs at the tech capital Silicon Valley, including the likes of Elon Musk and Russian researcher Dmitry Itskov, are investing millions of dollars into the possibility of transcending into a more robotic form.


“Ongoing research, they’d argue, is already yielding fruit, and it’ll only be exponential progress from here.

“But, perhaps unfortunately, our research has shed light on the considerable drawbacks in health that may well come as a consequence of our meddling with anti-ageing therapies.”

Our first glimpses into the physics that exist near the center of a black hole are being made possible using "loop quantum gravity"—a theory that uses quantum mechanics to extend gravitational physics beyond Einstein's theory of general relativity. Loop quantum gravity, originated at Penn State and subsequently developed by a large number of scientists worldwide, is opening up a new paradigm in modern physics. The theory has emerged as a leading candidate to analyze extreme cosmological and astrophysical phenomena in parts of the universe, like black holes, where the equations of general relativity cease to be useful.

Previous work in loop quantum gravity that was highly influential in the field analyzed the quantum nature of the Big Bang, and now two new papers by Abhay Ashtekar and Javier Olmedo at Penn State and Parampreet Singh at Louisiana State University extend those results to black hole interiors. The papers appear as "Editors' suggestions" in the journals Physical Review Letters and Physical Review on December 10, 2018 and were also highlighted in a Viewpoint article in the journal Physics.

"The best theory of gravity that we have today is general relativity, but it has limitations," said Ashtekar, Evan Pugh Professor of Physics, holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Physics, and director of the Penn State Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos. "For example, general relativity predicts that there are places in the universe where gravity becomes infinite and space-time simply ends. We refer to these places as 'singularities.' But even Einstein agreed that this limitation of general relativity results from the fact that it ignores quantum mechanics."

At the center of a black hole the gravity is so strong that, according to general relativity, space-time becomes so extremely curved that ultimately the curvature becomes infinite. This results in space-time having a jagged edge, beyond which physics no longer exists—the singularity. Another example of a singularity is the Big Bang. Asking what happened before the Big Bang is a meaningless question in general relativity, because space-time ends, and there is no before. But modifications to Einstein's equations that incorporated quantum mechanics through loop quantum gravity allowed researchers to extend physics beyond the Big Bang and make new predictions. The two recent papers have accomplished the same thing for the black hole singularity.

"The basis of loop quantum gravity is Einstein's discovery that the geometry of space-time is not just a stage on which cosmological events are acted out, but it is itself a physical entity that can be bent," said Ashtekar. "As a physical entity the geometry of space-time is made up of some fundamental units, just as matter is made up of atoms. These units of geometry—called 'quantum excitations'—are orders of magnitude smaller than we can detect with today's technology, but we have precise quantum equations that predict their behavior, and one of the best places to look for their effects is at the center of a black hole." According to general relativity, at the center of a black hole gravity becomes infinite so everything that goes in, including the information needed for physical calculations, is lost. This leads to the celebrated 'information paradox' that theoretical physicists have been grappling with for over 40 years. However, the quantum corrections of loop quantum gravity allow for a repulsive force that can overwhelm even the strongest pull of classical gravity and therefore physics can continue to exist. This opens an avenue to show in detail that there is no loss of information at the center of a blackhole, which the researchers are now pursuing.

कटौती और नई कीमत

लॉन्चिंग के समय इस स्मार्टफोन के 3GB रैम वाले वैरीअंट की कीमत ₹9999 रखी गई थी और 2GB रैम वाले की कीमत ₹7499 रखी गई थी। कंपनी ने 3GB रैम वाले की कीमत को ₹2000 कम कर दिया है जिसके बाद अब यह ₹7999 में खरीदने के लिए मौजूद है ऑनलाइन के साथ ही ऑफलाइन बाजार से भी खरीदा जा सकता है। 2GB रैम वाला वेरिएंट अभी भी ₹7499 में बिकता है।
